The Association for Cancer Immunotherapy (CIMT) (www.cimt.eu) was founded in 2002 as an independent information and education platform for the  emerging field of immunological cancer therapy. Founding members were European physicians and researchers from different fields of clinical and theoretical medicine, envisioning a dedicated organization to discuss cutting edge science and all aspects of translation in the field of cancer immunotherapy.  CIMT has since become the leading European communications platform.

CIMT partners with major international organizations like the Cancer Immunotherapy Consortium of the Cancer Research Institute (CRI-CIC)  and the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC). In 2011, CIMT became a FOCIS members society. Furthermore, CIMT collaborates with the renowned journal Cancer Immunology Immunotherapy (CII).

CIMT promotes progress and development in cancer immunotherapy by facilitating communication between scientists from all kinds of subspecialties. Since 2003, the Annual Meeting for Cancer Immunotherapy brings together researchers, clinicians and developers dedicated to propelling a new class of cancer treatment. The CIMT Annual Meeting has since developed from a small expert symposium to an international congress with over 550 participants and world-renowned speakers, over 180 peer reviewed abstracts presented in guided poster sessions, short talks, satellite workshops and an illustrious industry exhibition.

In addition, CIMT hosts work groups to actively develop research programs and to influence the legislative process where necessary.
The CIMT Immunoguiding Program (CIP) was founded in 2005 and has developed into a major international driving force for the task of establishing standardized immunoassays. CIP is covering educational aspects by organizing scientific sessions at the annual CIMT meeting, technical workshops and by publishing guidelines on its homepage and new insights in peer-review journals. Currently, the network comprises 42 actively participating members across Europe and the USA. CIP cooperates with partner groups and institutions that share similar aims and receives support from the Wallace Coulter Foundation (Miami, Florida, USA) and further industry partners.

Since 2008, the CIMT Regulatory Research Group (RRG) brings together members from academia, biotech industries and regulatory authorities such as the Paul-Ehrlich Institute (PEI). The RRG’s goal is to facilitate discussion between all groups relevant for the translation of scientific knowledge from bench to bedside.
