CIMT President Özlem Türeci receives Germany’s highest honor

We congratulate CIMT President Özlem Türeci who together with Ugur Sahin will receive the Federal Order of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz) for developing a coronavirus vaccine.

With the decisive and fast development of the vaccine against Covid-19, Türeci and Sahin had made a "decisive contribution to the containment of the Corona pandemic" stated German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier who will present the awards in Berlin on March 19 in the presence of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
